Get ready to fall in love with this new standalone sports romance from New York Times bestselling author Kim Karr.
He’s the newly drafted quarterback.
Hot. Arrogant. Too sexy for words.
Ready to score.
I’m an athletic intern, and the coach’s daughter.
Driven. Determined. Prepared to conquer the world.
You get the picture.
The NFL is full of rules. Rules I’ve never broken. Never challenged. Never even scratched—until the day Lucas Carrington crashes into my life with his hard body and I-don’t-give-a-f*ck attitude.
After I almost injure my father’s star player, I volunteer to make sure he’s in top shape. At first, it’s hell. I don’t like his cockiness, his easy smile. Don’t like the way he oozes sex. Or how his penetrating eyes follow me everywhere.
That doesn’t stop me from wanting him.
He’s meant to be a distraction—something to occupy my mind for these precious few remaining hot summer nights before I’m forced to leave football behind forever.
I know what we’re doing will lead nowhere good. I know we’re crossing the line. And I know my father will never understand.
None of that matters.
But maybe it should.
Rules aren’t meant to be broken.
Or are they?

Disappointed, she unwrapped her arms from her body, and then pivoted on her toe in the direction of the open door. “Then it looks like we have nothing further to discuss, Lucas.”
I reached for her and tugged her to me. “I don’t want to want you,” I breathed, my mouth hovering just centimeters from hers.
Gillian tried to pull away, but not whole-heartedly. If she wanted me to let her go, I would have, but I knew she didn’t. “Then stop,” she sighed.
I took her face in my hands. “I can’t. I don’t know how to.”
“Neither do I,” she whispered.
Unable to stop myself, I crashed my lips to hers and drove my tongue into her mouth to retrace every inch that I had explored days ago.
This was my first book to read of Kim Karr’s and it was really good! I am a sucker for sports romance, especially football, so Hot Stuff was right up my alley. What I loved about this book was that it was different from any other sports romance I read and I will tell you why!
The Story. I felt like this story was completely original in regards to sports romance because it took place during NFL training camp where Lucas is a rookie fighting for a spot and Gillian is an athletic training intern. I just loved how they met (I laughed out loud so hard when they met) and their journey of trying to stay under the radar. There were also some great side characters that added to the story. The pace was good and the book was well written.
Gillian. Gillian is not only an athletic training intern for the Chicago Bears training camp, but she is also the head coach’s daughter. This girl lives and breathes football just as much as the football players do. She is sassy and spunky and refuses to show that Lucas’s charm is getting to her, even though she is burning up inside. She has never stepped over the line with one of her dad’s players, but she decides she can’t stay away from Lucas.
Lucas. Lucas has given everything he has in order to reach his dream of playing for the NFL. Lucas is cocky and sure of himself, which is how he ends up striding over to this strawberry blonde that he has already nicknamed, Strawberry Fields (aka Gillian). When he realizes who Gillian is he tries to avoid her because he doesn’t want to jeopardize his career. However, Gillian has taken over his thoughts and he can’t stay away from her. Lucas has gone through life without having any real conversation with women, aside from his sister-in-law, due to his mother walking out when he was young so he is surprised when he finds that he enjoys talking with Gillian.
The Relationship. I think what I loved most about this relationship was that it was hot and passionate, but it was also more innocent in a way. These two found the humor in awkward steamy situations and it was almost like it was both of their first times, even though it wasn’t. They started out knowing that they would only be together until the end of training camp, but as they get to know each other it becomes more and more obvious that what they have is something real. However, there is one big obstacle in the way and his name is Daddy.
The ending of this book was beyond perfect after the heartache and struggle Gillian and Lucas overcame. I would recommend this book to those who love: football romance, forbidden romance, cocky, alpha males, and sassy, sweet females.
