Never trust a man who answers the front door wearing nothing more than a pair of low-cut jeans and a panty-melting smirk.
That should’ve been my first sign.
I write about guys just like him for a living—sexy and charming, yet reluctant to get into a serious relationship. His body screams sex appeal, but his condescending personality makes him a classic fuckboy.
And I want nothing to do with that.
Writing romance novels comes with its perks—traveling, meeting new people, creating characters from the voices in my head—but Ethan Rochester enters my life and rearranges all my preconceived notions about writing what inspires you.
One week is all it took. One week to realize that not everything is as it seems.
One week with the bad boy, and I wanted more.

I’ve never made it a secret how much I love Kennedy Fox, and I was super excited to find out that Brooke and Lyra were writing a new book series outside the Checkmate world. And like I suspected, these two hit this one out of the park for me!
My Week With the Bad Boy tells the story of Vada who is a romance author under a deadline to finish what she hopes will be a best seller. Looking for inspiration, she rents a small guest house in South Carolina. What she wasn’t expecting to find is the owner, Ethan, half naked and oozing sex. Vada tries to resist the temptation, but eventually saying no to the bad boy gets to be too hard and she caves to her desires.
Basically Ethan is sex on a stick. This boy is so hot he burns when you touch him. He’s got a filthy mouth, and the moves to back it up. I couldn’t get enough of him, and to my surprise, there is so much more to him than just a pretty face and an amazing body. Ethan really grew on me, and once Vada broke through his cocky exterior, he was super sweet and I fell completely in love with him.
My Week With the Bad Boy differs from the Checkmate series in a lot of ways. One, it is a standalone, so no obnoxious cliffhanger (I say that with love!). Also, in my opinion, the story has much faster pacing. And the sex was way hotter. I may have caught myself fanning my face a time or two, it was that steamy. But all in all, this book was so well written, and it really affected my emotions to the point of wanting to throw my Kindle. But in a good way!! My Week With the Bad Boy is my new favorite by these two amazingly talented ladies, and I can’t wait for their next book!
Let me start off by saying that this book was really good. I have loved and will always love Kennedy Fox, aka Brooke Cumberland and Lyra Parish, but I loved this one a little less than I loved their previous books. Only because one of my pet peeves was in this book and I got frustrated with the heroine, Vada. Other than that little bit, I loved the book.
I got some serious CoHo vibes in this book, which I loved. I felt this book definitely was sexy, but it was also so much deeper than the cover lets on. I was expecting some light hearted romantic comedy type book, which it definitely there, but it also had so much more depth in it. I freaking loved Ethan and his story. I felt I just got to see so much of Ethan…if that makes sense. I saw his swoony moments, I saw his hot damn sexy moments, yet I also saw his broken moments, and his sweet moments. Ethan was everything.
I have gotten the writing bug this semester and reading about Vada trying to write her own book really got me inspired. I loved reading about her everyday writing struggle, as well as the days that it was not a struggle at all. It was fun to see where her writing ended up after reading a certain swoony male named Ethan. It was fun to see her let her guard down and go after the bad boy without a care in the world. One decision that she made, however, really irked me. It is a decision that so many heroines make that I just want to slap them across the face for because it makes zero sense to me. Because of this decision, this book didn’t get a 5 star rating from me. It doesn’t mean this was not a really good book! Some of you might not have such an issue with said decision, but, for me, it was just frustrating.
I highly recommend this book for those who love: standalone, tortured artists, closet smut writers, and hot AF couples.

Lyra Parish loves to write, glamp, and sing obnoxiously loud at the top of her lungs in the shower. Sweet love stories (along with the dirty ones) make her gush. She is a firm believer that a person can never have too many cups of coffee, cats, or happily ever afters. When she isn’t busy writing with Brooke as Kennedy Fox, she can be found sipping various beverages from her non-alcoholic drink buffet, pimp slapping excel spreadsheets, or riding her bike.
