Three years have passed and I’m forced to see her again, but now she’s all grown up.
She’s my best friend’s baby sister. My downfall.
I hate her for what she did.
But she’s always been my drug of choice.

Review

I love New Adult books.  When I first stepped back into the romance genre, NA is where I started.  It was everything I loved about YA Contemporary, but with more angst and sex.  Over the years, I’ve read some really great NA, and some blah NA.  Bad Habit fell way, way at the top of the great NA pile.  I absolutely loved this book.

Asher and Briar have always felt a strong connection, even when that connection was taboo.  After a night where actions took place that had deep and long lasting consequences, Asher leaves without a word.  Briar is devastated after his sudden disappearance and spends the next three years attempting to forget him.  However, his sudden reappearance sets her entire world into a tailspin, and she tries frantically to make sense of her new reality.

The best thing about this entire book was Asher.  I have a real thing for angsty, damaged heroes.  There is something about seeing their anger begin to fade, and their hearts open up to love that always makes me so happy.  Asher checked off all the marks on my favorite type of hero list.   Angry, check.  Damaged, check.  Feelings of unworthiness, check.  It was all there.  And seeing him with Briar made my heart incredibly happy.  Charleigh Rose took a character that by all means should not have been lovable, and made me fall head over heels for him.

Bad Habit flows very well, and has excellent pacing.  Charleigh Rose threw in the right amount of angst and bitterness to keep the story from being sappy, and left me with a romance that had me on the edge of my seat, flipping the pages to see if there would be a happy ending.  She also created an entire group of secondary characters that has left me dying for their stories.  I really hope that we will see their stories in the future!
