“Because I crave you. I crave your lips, your tongue, your body pressed against mine.”

Synopsis:

After being left at the altar, Jade Roberts seeks solace at her best friend’s ranch on the Colorado western slope. Her humiliation still ripe, she doesn’t expect to be attracted to her friend’s reticent brother, but when the gorgeous cowboy kisses her, all bets are off.
Talon Steel is broken. Having never fully healed from a horrific childhood trauma, he simply exists, taking from women what is offered and giving nothing in return…until Jade Roberts catapults into his life. She is beautiful, sweet, and giving, and his desire for her becomes a craving he fears he’ll never be able to satisfy.
Passion sizzles between the two lovers…but long-buried secrets haunt them both and may eventually tear them apart.

My Thoughts:

Craving was a book that I picked up on whim one day while I was browsing at Barnes & Noble. It is so rare to have the first book in the series on the shelves when there are a ton of books in the series so I felt this had to be good.

The Story. This was very much an insta-lust story that was fast paced and easy to read. I kind of missed the foreplay/getting to know you stage, but that is very much how these two are. The story opens with Jade moving to Snow Creek after being left at the altar. Jade wants a fresh start by moving in with her best friend, Marjorie, on her family’s ranch. However, she is not prepared for Marjorie’s hot older brother, Talon, to be living in the same house too. Fireworks ensue between the two, but there are secrets buried deep in the Steel family’s past that threaten to keep them apart.

Jade. Jade was a little bit of a pushover when it came to Talon and his needs. I was proud that she would not give up on him and was willing to help him however she could, but I also wanted her to stand her ground a little bit more. I did like her as a character though. She realized how big of mistake she would have made if she had married her ex. She was an enthusiastic character who was very intelligent.

Talon. Poor Talon. This man has had such a horrific past that he has no idea how to be around people outside of his family. He wants no attachments in his life because he feels he has nothing left to give them. Talon is going through the motions with his emotions pushed as far down as they will go. However, Jade comes around and rocks his world to its core. Talon’s mentality is that if he gives in and sleeps with Jade, then he will get her out of his system. This doesn’t work out…AT ALL.

The Relationship…or whatever you want to call it. These two were hot and heavy in the bedroom, but there struggles were in the talking department. Jade tried so hard to get Talon to open up, but he was so closed off. I really am rooting for them though!

I really hope that the next book is more flushed out as well as the relationship because we didn’t get to that part! There was a slight cliffhanger that guarantees I will be getting the second book…and soon!
