Blogging Through Our TBR Challenge for 2018! Join us!

Hey guys! Emily and I have some really exciting news for a challenge that we are doing in 2018 that we want everyone to join us in!

Charli’s TBR Journey:

I started on the crazy train of buying numerous amounts of physical books over a year ago, and I now have 1 1/2 bookcases worth of TBR books. For some of you, this will not be a surprise because you also suffer from this fate, but, for others, you might be shocked. I have been collecting books faster than I can read and it has gotten out of hand. I always want to read books off of my TBR, but I either get sidetracked by new, shiny books, or I read something off of my kindle, which also has an obnoxious number of TBR books, but at least they are not taking up residence on my bookshelves. So here is how our solution came to be.

Emily’s TBR Journey:

I’ve always had a habit of buying a little bit ahead on my books  but when I started Bookstagram a few years ago, the problem increased 10 fold, and now I’ve found myself literally drowning in unread books.  And because the situation is out of control, I don’t know where to start with it.  So I just hide from it and read on my Kindle.  Where there is also a ton of unread books.  But those don’t count  because no one can see those and ask me about them!  I had already made a promise to myself that I was going to fix the problem in 2018, and was so excited when Charli and I came up with a solution!

Our Solution:

Emily and I got to talking about how we want to clear out our TBR in 2018, and came up with a solution. I took pictures of my TBR bookshelves and sent them to Emily so she could figure out how many books we shared. We shared over 60 books in common!!!!! Emily and I tend to read similar books, but this was outrageous. Emily joked that our bookshelves could be cousins, and they really could be with how similar they look! Emily and I are also similar readers, where we tend to read books pretty quickly. All of this combined to make our challenge Blogging Through Our TBR.

Our Challenge:

Emily and I picked a book for each week of the year, and came up with themes based on each book. We will announce these well ahead of time so that y’all can follow along! We would love nothing more than to share this journey with y’all! We will be hosting books talks on our Facebook page and sharing our initial reactions through our Twitter. We are also hosting a photo challenge via Instagram that we are super excited about. At the end of each week, Emily and I will post a review for the book that we read and talk about the next week’s book/theme. We will also come up with alternative books that match each theme so that if we finish the first book then we can read another TBR book. This also gives y’all options if you have read or don’t want to read the original book for the week. If y’all have a book that fits a theme that has been on your TBR for a while, then we would love to hear about it! Last but not least, we will be hosting a GIVEAWAY each month for one of you lucky people to win an ebook of one of the featured books for that month!!!! Without further ado….HERE ARE JANUARY’S READS!
