Synopsis:

All hail the Fire Queen.

Against all odds, Ruby has defeated the villainous Frost King and melted his throne of ice. But the bloodthirsty Minax that was trapped inside is now haunting her kingdom and everyone she loves. The answers to its demise may lie to the south in Sudesia, the land of the Firebloods, and a country that holds the secrets to Ruby’s powers and past…

Despite warnings from her beloved Arcus, Ruby accompanies a roguish Fireblood named Kai to Sudesia, where she must master her control of fire in a series of trials to gain the trust of the suspicious Fire Queen. Only then can she hope to access the knowledge that could defeat the rampaging Minax—which grows closer every moment. But as sparks fly in her moments alone with Kai, Ruby no longer knows whom to trust. The fates of two kingdoms are now in her hands.

My Review:

I was really anticipating reading this book after Frostblood was so good! This was no exception because the story continued right where it left of with its phenomenal magic system, sweet romance, and a threatening war between Frostbloods and Firebloods.

The Story. I really love this story because it brings unique elements into it that make it special. The gods, magic, and prophecies in this series make everything so exciting. I never know what is going to happen next. I was definitely thrown a few times and I had many OMG moments that kept me hooked. It was very well written and had a fantastic plot. Kai was a great new character to explore in this particular novel because he is so laid back and guards his emotions with humor. It balances Arcus’s personality of serious and guarding his emotions by closing people out. I still love Arcus because he makes Ruby feel safe and fights for her even when it might be easier to find someone who is a Frostblood like him. Kai was a breath of fresh air who wanted to help Ruby improve her Fireblood magic, which was fascinating. In Frostblood, we were introduced to Tempesia and in Fireblood Ruby travels to Sudesia to find out how to destroy the Minax that is wreaking havoc in Tempesia. However, she has no idea who she can trust and will have to show a strength she has never shown before to survive. There are betrayals, secrets, romance, and wondering what is going to happen next.

Ruby. I absolutely love Ruby as a character because she is loyal and so strong, even when it is at a cost to her. She is willing to do whatever it takes to save both kingdoms and create peace between the Frostbloods and the Firebloods. Ruby has to learn to let go of the tight rein on her emotions if she is going to succeed in fulfilling her full potential. With the shocks thrown left and right at Ruby, I admired her ability to adapt and stay on course of what she needed to do to succeed.

I highly recommend this book to those who love: young adult, fantasy, romance, and extremely strong heroines.
