Synopsis:

Moving back home to my parents’ cattle ranch in Texas was the last thing I thought I’d be doing.

But, here I stand … in front of my high school girlfriend. A beautiful, confident woman has replaced the young girl I once knew and loved. Hell. I’m still in love with her.

Yep. Paxton Monroe was my first love and the one girl in town who now hated my guts. So much so, Paxton swore her revenge on me if it took her until the day she died. The last words she spoke to me were a vow to cut my dick off and shove it down my throat.

The fight between my heart, my head, and last, but certainly not least, my dick starts tonight. Because all I can think about is how I want to be buried so deep inside Paxton she won’t remember how I broke her heart, or how I left her when she needed me the most.

But who will win? My heart is too broken to listen to my head. And my dick, yeah it’s not listening to anything or anyone. Not until it gets what it wants and what it wants is Paxton Monroe.

Lost Love is book one in the Cowboys and Angels Series.

My Review:

I got a signed paperback in my Romance Reveal Book Box several months ago, and I can’t believe I am just now picking it up! Lost Love is the first book of the Cowboys & Angels series, and it was my first book to read by this author. All I can say is GIDDY UP because I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

The Story. The story starts with a prologue chapter from Steed’s POV and we experience the emotional turmoil Steed Parker is in while listening to the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Paxton, grieve for the loss of their baby. He knows how much she hates him so he up and leaves to give her the space she asked for. Chapter one opens up ten years later with Steed driving back home with his five year old daughter, Chloe, in tow. He just escaped a horrific marriage and is ready to be surrounded by the peace of his family’s ranch. He might also be hoping to make things right with the woman he left behind all those years ago. However, he is not expecting the amount of damage he left in his swift departure and the anger Paxton still feels for him. Paxton still feels a void in her heart from both the child she lost and the man she thought she was gonna spend the rest of her life with. So when she finally comes face to face with Steed after all these years, and a blonde haired girl comes running up to him yelling “Daddy!” she feels as if someone punched her in the gut. No matter what, she refuses to ever let Steed make her feel vulnerable again.

I absolutely loved this second chance romance! It was emotional and sweet and light hearted. I fell in love with the Parker siblings, but most of all I fell in love with Pax, Steed, and Chloe. The writing was fantastic and the storyline was perfect. There were some fantastic secondary characters that I know are going to be getting their own books, and I can’t wait. Steed and Paxton had a beautiful love story that started from a young age, and endured for ten years, despite the distance. I could read about these two for a whole other book because I want to see all their days together.

Steed. I freaking love this man! He is who every little girl dreams she will marry one day. He is passionate, caring, supportive, strong, vulnerable, and so many other things. Steed would walk through fire for his girls and will keep going until they are happy. After the hell his ex put him and Chloe through, he deserved to find happiness again. The way that he loves his daughter is beautiful and awe inspiring. He shielded Chloe from a mother who didn’t ever want or love her by being the best father he could be. Steed also knew how much he had hurt Paxton in the past and wanted to make things right and reclaim the piece of his heart he left with her. We also het to see a fun, playful side to Steed when he’s around his six siblings. Those Parker siblings had me giggling so hard.

Paxton. Sweet girl! Paxton has such a huge heart (she’s a kindergarten teacher so she kind of has to have a huge, patient heart), which ultimately leads her to let her guard down. She was so beyond hurt in the past, but more than losing her baby, she lost the love of her life. Paxton hasn’t let anyone in since Steed left, but she quickly realizes its because she never stopped loving Steed. I loved her relationships with Steed’s family and her compassion for Chloe. It is pretty freaking hard to resist Chloe. Paxton falls in love with them both and realizes things happened just how they were supposed to and she would rather die than let anyone, especially Steed’s crazy ex, hurt Steed and Chloe ever again.

Chloe. Baby girl! I really felt I needed to include Chloe in this review because she is such a big part of this love story. I wanted to kidnap this girl from the book and love on her because every child deserves the love of a mother, which she never had from her own biological mother. This girl prayed for God to give her a mommy who loved her and He definitely answered her prayers with Paxton. She was just so freaking adorable and the comments she said sometimes broke my heart. I loved her relationship with her dad and his family, but I loved to watch her relationship with Paxton grow even more.

I highly recommend this book to those who love: second chance romance, single dads, the warm and fuzzy, healing heroines, and chivalrous heroes.
