I wanted to get away, to hide until my heart mended. I found myself in a strange town with a mysterious stranger whose talented mouth and hands almost made me forget it was supposed to be my wedding night.

Afraid to go home to face my broken life, I pretend to be my twin so I can take her job in Jackson Harbor caring for a six-year-old girl. Imagine my surprise when I find out my new boss is my mysterious stranger—Dr. Ethan Jackson.

I never meant for Ethan to discover my secrets. I never meant for them to matter. But the longer I work with him and his sweet daughter, the harder I fall, and the clearer it becomes that I’m not the only one carrying a secret that could tear us apart.

Get ready to fall for the boys of Jackson Harbor in Lexi Ryan’s sexy new contemporary romance series. These books can all be read as standalones, but you’ll enjoy reading them as a series!

My Review:

This was my first Lexi Ryan book and it certainly won’t be my last! The Wrong Kind of Love was emotional, exciting, and so full of love. I seriously could not put this book down.

The Story. Nicole is gutted when she walks down the aisle only to have her identical twin sister, Veronica, puke all of her flowers because she is pregnant with her fianće’s baby. Instead of dealing with the aftermath of one of the worst days of her life, Nic finds herself in a quaint town in Michigan called Jackson Harbor where she meets a mysterious man who she can’t seem to keep her eyes off of. Nic is drunk enough to want to get lost in this man’s touch, but the man refuses to take advantage of a vulnerable girl who is having a shit day. However, he isn’t too noble to at least give her a little something before he leaves. Nic isn’t prepared to ever see her mysterious man again…until the adorable six year old she is supposed to be nannying for the next three months calls him Daddy. Will their unfinished business draw them closer together or will the secrets they both carry keep them apart?

This was a fantastic story that was gut-wrenching and heart-warming at the same time. I love the tight knit family aspect of this book and can’t wait to see what the other Jackson siblings are going to bring to this series as well as Nic’s hilarious friend and her back stabbing twin. There was such a great flow to this storyline that made me keep reading until the end. It was very well written and definitely kept me entertained. The Jackson siblings, especially Ethan, stole my heart, but it was a sweet little girl, Lilly, who stole my soul.

Nic. All Nic has wanted her entire life is a family of her own, which is why her past is littered with one toxic relationship after another. Yeah, she had her twin, but Veronica was the one who burned brighter while she always faded into the background. Her life is turned upside down with Veronica’s betrayal, and she is just looking for time to mend her broken heart. She is not looking for another person to mend it for her, but that is exactly what Ethan helps her do. He sees her in a way no one else does…the only problem is that he thinks her name is Veronica. The closer she gets to Ethan and Lilly the harder it is to keep the truth to herself. However, the truth isn’t always yours to tell.

Ethan. This sweet man has had more heartache than one should be allowed. He is intent on working, caring for his daughter, and hanging out with his family. He never again wants to fall in love only to get both his and Lilly’s hearts ripped out of their chests. The only women Lilly needs is her grandma and her aunt. Things don’t go according to his plan when he sees how good Nic is with Lilly, and he starts to wonder what the future would look like if she just stayed in Jackson Harbor. One by one, Ethan shares his secrets, but he doesn’t realize that Nic is still keeping a few of her own. Secrets that could inevitably rock his family to the core.

I would highly recommend this book to those who love: sweet romance, family secrets, tight knit families, single dads, adorable little girls, and a heroine who is just looking for a place to belong.

Overall Rating: 4.5/5 Stars!
