A hot new standalone romance from New York Times bestseller, Kendall Ryan.
She’s the tutor I hired to teach me Italian.
She’s way too young for me, but she’s also gorgeous, bright and filled with a curiosity about life that I find incredibly refreshing.
It’s fucking adorable.
I’m old enough to know better, but this pretty young thing tempts me beyond belief. And for the first time in my life, I can see myself falling.
Is this what it’s like to be pursued by an older man? The complete confidence, the lack of expectations, the sincerity?
My God, it’s exhilarating.
Quinn Kingsley is totally unexpected. I’m moving to Italy in three weeks to teach English, and while I never expected something so real to develop between us so quickly, our chemistry is undeniable.
There’s something so sexy about this back and forth he and I share. Flirting with this man is like playing with fire, and I’m bound to get burned.
Io sono attratto da te. I’m attracted to you, he tells me.
But is our attraction enough to get us through the complications of a massive age gap and an international love affair?
Only one way to find out…
This is such a hard review to write. I honestly love the Kendall Ryan’s books, but the past few have fallen a little short for me as far as character development goes. I just feel like her books have gotten a little stale and turn out to be your typical romance book. I am not saying there is anything wrong with that, especially if you are looking for a quick, surface read to escape to, but I am just missing so much of the story.
I was so excited to read Quinn’s story because I loved him in Gavin and Cooper’s books, and I couldn’t wait to get his HEA. Quinn is such a sexy, sophisticated guy who knows exactly what he wants in life, but he is blindsided when he realizes that something is a woman sixteen years younger than him. My parents are 12 years apart so I do love reading stories with significant age gaps because age truly doesn’t matter as long as you’re with the right person. There was no game playing in this book, which was refreshing to me.
Alessandra was a girl after my own heart because we share a love for Italy. Her dream is to teach English in Italy while exploring all Italy has to offer. However, she doesn’t expect her new student to be an attractive older man who knows exactly how to treat a lady, and she definitely doesn’t expect to meet the man of her dreams a few weeks before she is supposed to move to Italy. I loved Alessandra’s playfulness and her rambling nerves. Her shyness was an endearing quality that was usually shoved to the side when she needed to pull herself together to carry on conversations with important people.
Quinn and Alessandra really were adorable and I loved their story. I loved their Italian mixed in with English. It was definitely an insta love type story that went by extremely fast. It was well written and was a fairly short read.
Overall Rating: 3/5 Stars!
So here’s the thing. I’ve always enjoyed Kendall Ryan’s romances and really liked her characters. The Forbidden Desires Series was no different. But like Charli, I feel like the last few books have been missing something. I just need more than what I’m getting. It doesn’t mean they’re not good, or that I don’t like them. It just means that once I was finished, I had so many questions and thoughts!
I’ve been excited to read Quinn’s book since he was first introduced in Gavin’s story. He was quiet, and stoic, and I was super curious to meet the man behind the suit. When We were introduced to Quinn, I was a little disappointed because I didn’t feel like he was as introspective as I thought he would be, and I found his personality to be lacking. I just didn’t feel like there was a lot of meat and potatoes behind his character.
As for Alessandra, I thought she was adorable. I loved her shyness, and thought it was a really enduring quality. Her personality really came out when she was with Quinn and she brought a softer side out in Quinn. Her personality was catching! I also loved that she was younger than Quinn. So many times in books and movies, we see men with older woman, but rarely do we see older men with younger woman unless they’re a gold digger of sorts. Alessandra and Quinn’s romance was completely refreshing on how it played on this angle.
Overall, I enjoyed Quinn’s story and thought it was a cute, adorable romance. It read fast and definitely took my mind off real life for a while and sometimes that’s all we can ask for in a book!
