Title: Matters of the Hart
A Hart Series Standalone
Author: M.E. Carter
Genre: Sports Romance
Release Date: March 22, 2018
Synopsis
In an instant he became her hero. Then he became her lover and her friend.
My name is Jaxon Hart.
You watched me grow up. You watched me fight for my life. Now, I’m fighting for hers.
From the second I laid eyes on Annika Leander, I wanted to help her. Protect her. Vindicate her. But she’s got baggage to get through. Hell, we both do.
A funny thing happens, though, when you finally connect with someone in a different way than you ever have before. The baggage doesn’t seem so heavy.
I suppose that’s really the only thing that matters when the heart gets involved.
Review
When I received Matters of the Heart, I didn’t release it was an interconnected stand a lone of sorts. While you can read it by itself, I highly suggest reading books one and two first. I’m so glad I saw this bit of information on goodreads, because it brings so much more to the story.
I started Change of Hart last Friday and finished it in nearly one sitting. I then bawled and sobbed through Hart to Heart on Saturday. It was a full on Kim Kardashian ugly cry, people. My husband and kids kept giving me the side eye and my toddler just patted my knee in passing. But all the tears were completely worth it because both books were so incredibly written.
Matters of the Hart, like books one and two is a heavy, gut wrenching story that broke my heart into a million pieces, and slowly pasted it back together. And it was worth every tear, heartache, and stomach twist. If I could go back to read these again for the first time, I’d be ecstatic.
Jaxon Hart is the son of our two main characters, Jason and Addison, from books one and two. All grown up and in college, Jaxon is struggling with his place in not only society, but also within his family. His whole life changes the night he meets Annika. Circumstances of their meeting are not conventional in the least, and deal with an awful crime against women. Together Annika and Jaxon work to heal each other and to reestablish themselves within society, especially after seeing the evil that lurks within their college town.
I truly loved this book, and the one thing that has made M.E. carter a new auto buy author is the realness of her characters. Her female characters aren’t airbrushed to perfection. They have stretch marks, blemishes and mom bodies. Her male characters have their own flaws that cast them in a less than perfect light. It’s refreshing after reading so many books with perfect tiny woman and six pack abs and the coveted “v.” I’m not saying I don’t love those type of books too, but the Hart series feels much more real life to me.
Matters of the Hart was a huge FIVE star read for me, and I can’t wait to see what other treasures Carter brings us in the future!

Author Bio
Mother, reader, storyteller—ME Carter never set out to write books. But when a friend practically forced a copy of Twilight into her hands, the love of the written word she had lost as a child was rekindled. With a story always rolling around in her head, it should come as no surprise that she finally started putting them on paper. She lives in Texas with her four children, Mary, Elizabeth, Carter and Bug, who sadly was born long after her pen name was created, and will probably need extensive therapy because of it.
