Synopsis:

Don’t get caught in the surge.

Through a bullet hole in a wall, I watch a man bleed to death.
Those responsible think their crime died with the victim, until I identify them.
What’s a girl to do when she’s being hunted by murderers
witness protection can’t even stop?
Run.
My only refuge is a place I vowed to never go again.
When it’s do or die, an eight-year-old heartache suddenly seems trivial.
Besides, he won’t be there anyway.
But he is.
Turns out my old pain feels brand new the second his eyes meet mine.
I can’t leave. I can’t stay.
This snowy town that’s supposed to be my shelter
suddenly exposes me more than before.
With no one else to lean on, Liam becomes my lifeline.
Now we’re both running for our lives,
trying not to get swept away.

Review:

I swear with every book that Cambria writes, I grow more and more in love with her. I have read her Hashtag series, GearShark (books 1 and 2), Butterfly, and I have her Amnesia duet on my shelf. Needless to say, I love her and I was absolutely thrilled that she sent me a signed copy of her new book! I am usually not one for snow (I’m a Texas girl through and through…therefore I reject the cold), but there was nothing cold about this book. It was steamy hot mixed with lots of suspense and mystery.

The story begins with Bellamy witnessing a horrific tragedy that sends her life into a tailspin. After one too many attempts on her life, Bellamy runs to the only place that she truly loved…even if it was also the place that she left part of her heart in eight years before. Bellamy doesn’t expect to literally run into that boy she used to know, but lo and behold Liam is back in Caribou, Colorado too. Liam knows instantly that there is something wrong in Bellamy’s world and he can’t get over the shock of seeing “the one who got away” in his family’s first class resort, BearPaw. Liam is determined to get to the bottom of Bellamy’s skittishness, but Bellamy is determined to keep him out of it. However, when danger arrives on their doorstep, she has no choice but to confide in him.

I adored this story that Cambria brought us. It was fast paced and well written and kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved the determination and the possessiveness that Liam displayed toward Bellamy, and his stubbornness in never letting her go again…no matter what. He was such a strong character who had been through his own kind of hell the past couple of years, and he wants nothing more than to have Bellamy in his life permanently. Bellamy was such an amazing character as well. She was strong, brave, and persisted that she can take care of herself. She was not about to let Liam or anyone else rule her life, despite constantly looking over her shoulder the past couple of years. I also want a dog just like Charlie because he was freaking adorable.

I can’t wait to see what comes next because I want to explore more of the story and the characters like Alex and Liam’s parents. I feel these characters are going to be an amazing addition (more than they already are) in book 2 and I am so excited for that. Along with having more Charlie scenes thrown in there because that was one dog I would love to snuggle with.

I would highly highly recommend this book to those who love: snow, giant dogs, new adult, women on the run from something dangerous, and possessive heroes determined to save said women.

Overall Rating: 5/5 Stars!
