REVIEW: Balance (Off Balance, #1) by Lucia Franco

Adrianna Rossi is no stranger to the rigorous demands required of her body. Years of pain and determination make her one of the best. Olympic glory is the ultimate goal, and she’ll do anything to achieve it. Even if that means leaving home to attend World Cup Academy of Gymnastics, a training center that serves one purpose—producing champions.

Perfection, precision, and dedication are required of his athletes. When two time Olympian Konstantin Kournakova is persuaded into training the young hopeful, he immediately regrets it. She doesn’t come close to his high standards. As the relentless pursuit of her dream keeps her striving, a passion is ignited within him.

Kova’s power and domination, coupled with Adrianna’s fierce tenacity, reveal there is more for her body to learn. Every interaction can be misconstrued, but there’s no mistaking the darkening of his gaze, the lingering of his touch, or the illicit image of his bare skin pressed against hers. Integrity is on the line. One toe off the beam and their forbidden desires could ruin everything they’ve worked for, throwing it all off balance.

Charli’s Review:

OMGGGGG! THIS FREAKING BOOK! April has been begging me to read this book for months, but I was scared off because there is cheating and a giant (somewhat shady but not really) age gap between the characters. However, so many of my bookstagram friends gave it 5 stars and I knew I just had to read it. AND I AM SO GLAD THAT I DID!

Balance begins with Adrianna needing to find a new gymnastics training facility to train at an elite level to make her Olympic dreams come true. She ends up going to Worlds Cup where she meets her Russian coach, Kova. She quickly learns that Kova is a hardass who is going to push her mind, body, and soul, further than they have ever been pushed. She also will have to battle her feelings for her sexy new coach in the midst of training her ass off. As the days go by, it gets harder and harder to deny the growing chemistry between her and Kova, but sometimes temptation is just too strong to walk away from. Adrianna and Kova will have to balance their growing feelings with their professional relationship. However, secrets can’t stay hidden for long, and these secrets can destroy careers.

I am so freaking obsessed right now. This book was so well written and the amount of research that Lucia put into this book was phenomenal. I loved getting immersed into this competitive sport that is cutthroat. Oh man, the sexual tension throughout this whole book is enough to catch your book on fire. The forbidden romance will leave you panting and not wanting to put it down. I NEED MORE! I seriously fell in love with this book, this story, this world, these characters, and, most of all, this author!

This book is told in Adrianna’s POV which I really liked. She is a very strong character who has a drive like no other. She is willing to put all her blood, sweat, and tears into gymnastics because there is no other priority for her. I truly admired her work ethic and her strength throughout this whole book. No matter what Kova or anyone else said, she would not back down and let them see her tears. She is bold, feisty, and sarcastic, which I love in female characters.

Kova is an infuriating, complex, (slight) asshole who I have a love/hate relationship with. One minute I am in love with him, and the next I want to throat punch him. He is so anguished throughout this book because he is fighting his feelings and trying to do what is right. I could literally feel his turmoil in this book, and I just wanted to fast forward to when everything was gonna eventually be okay for everyone. However, Kova is a man who strives for perfection with his gymnasts. That means he can be a total asshole, but he does it in order to help his athletes become better.

I am counting down the days for the next book to be released! I highly recommend this book to those who love: forbidden romance, gymnastics, hot Russians, and strong willed females.

Overall Rating: 5/5 Stars!
