Review:
I really enjoyed book one, Before She Was Mine, and I was looking forward to book 2, After I Was His, which was based on the secondary characters from book 1. This was a military, forbidden romance that was adorable.
There was nothing bad about this book, but I also found I was not as invested in this one as I was with the first one. I was waiting for the part that hooked me in and I just never found it. The main characters went from enemies to lovers and I did enjoy reading their story. It was definitely a battle to say the least.
Wes was a tortured hero with dark memories of his time in the Army, and Whitney was a fierce lioness all her own. These two played off each other so well. The story was well written and flowed well.
