REVIEW: Tattered by Devney Perry

38456737.jpgThea Landry has always known her place in modern-day society. It’s somewhere just above the trash can her mother dumped her in as a newborn but below the class where much comes easy. With her tattered shoes and bargain-bin clothes, her life has never been full of glamour.

So when a rich and charismatic man takes interest, she doesn’t fool herself into thinking their encounter is anything more than a one-night stand. Months later, she’s kicking herself for not getting his phone number. Or his last name. She’s given up hope of seeing him ever again.

Until one day, years later, Logan Kendrick waltzes into her life once more and turns everything she’s built upside down. This time around, she won’t make the same mistake. She’s going to fight to keep him in her life—not for herself.

But for their daughter.

My Review:

I have not read a Devney Perry book before, but I have several on my TBR that I am itching to get to. I have had my eye on Tattered ever since I read the blurb months ago because I love second chance romances and secret babies.

After one incredible night that changed her life, Thea was not expecting to ever run into her daughter’s father again despite her numerous attempts to find him. Until one day he strolled into her bar looking just as good as he did six years ago. Logan took one look at the little girl with his crooked pinkie finger and his world stood still. He knew he was forever changed because of Charlie with her wild spirit and tomboy ways. The attraction between Logan and Thea is just as strong as it was years ago, but there are so many obstacles in the way, including the miles between New York City and the tiny town of Lark Cove, Montana. As this little family gets to know each other and find common ground, forces beyond their control are trying to keep them apart. They have to decide if what they have is worth making some huge life decisions for or if what they have will fade away.

Thea is an absolute sweetheart who has been fighting her entire life to find a family and feel loved. She escaped NYC to find that in the woman she considers a mother, her best friend who is as close as a brother, and the little girl she carried with her. After six years in Lark Cove, Thea has found that stability she has always craved and created a life she can be proud of. She has no intention of giving it up even for the man she has loved ever since that first night. I loved Thea’s strength and knowing exactly what was best for her and Charlie even if that left her heart broken.

Logan is the kind of man every woman wants to call her own. He was intelligent, ambitious, passionate, and willing to fight for what he wants. He hit the ground running when he found out about Charlie and put everything aside to make her a part of his life. I was awed by how their relationship grew with time and familiarity. Logan is a man who does what is right for him even if his family disagrees. I thought he was the perfect match for Thea.

Charlie is seriously the best little girl. She was vibrant and full of untamed spirit that is beautiful to see. I loved how Charlie took the time to process things before jumping into change. She is a unique child that I adore!

I highly recommend this book to those who love: second chance romance, books with children, small towns, heroines who stand up for themselves, and heroes who go above and beyond.

Overall Rating: 4.5/5 Stars!
