Don’t get in trouble, they said. Don’t cause an incident. Oops.
I might be a newfound prince, but that doesn’t mean I’m ready to say goodbye to my days of freedom. So when my brother, the king, asks me to babysit a diplomat’s daughter, my first thought is to say no… that is until I see her climbing out of a window with her dress tucked into her thong.
She might just be my kind of girl.
I just thought I’d mix business with pleasure…I didn’t plan to lose control of my heart.
I’ve been groomed by my parents to climb the social ladder all my life and I’m done with it. I want nothing from their royal world.
Now that I’m finally on my own, I can live where I want, date who I want, do who I want.
The one person I won’t be doing? My new accidental roommate.
Oh, he’s gorgeous and mysterious, and cheeky. He’s also friends with the king and a total jackass.
So basically, he’s never gonna get it…famous last words.
I discovered Nana Malone earlier in the year when I read Cheeky Royal and Cheeky King. I adored these books, and fell in love with her writing. I’m a huge fan of royal romances and hers hit the spot. I completely fell in love with the characters from the books and when it ended, I wanted to know MORE. So imagine my surprise, and utter happiness, when I found out that she was continuing to write more book in the world of the Winston Isle royals.
Royal Bastard is the story of Lucas, Sebastian, the current king’s half brother. We were first introduced to him in Cheeky Royal and I was completely intrigued by his character. Not having grown up around the royal family, and the wealth that came with it, I was curious to see how he would fit into the world. The book begins at the royal wedding of Penny and Sebastian, and we quickly start to see the world Lucas grew up in rearing its ugly head and creeping into his new life. Watching as he balanced this throughout the book was entertaining, and definitely kept me on my toes. Nana Malone not only writes great romances, but she always just sprinkles in the right amount of mystery and intrigue to keep me guessing.
Bryna is the female protagonist of the story, and she may just be my favorite female character in romance book history. And that’s saying a lot. She is quirky, accident prone, and really keeps Lucas on his toes. These two had a phenomenal chemistry that could be felt from the very start of the story. I loved how Lucas was with Bryna too. I had originally given my heart up to Sebastian in this series, but I might have acted much too quickly, because I’m pretty sure that Lucas is taking top spot as king of my heart!
This book was hilarious, heartwarming, and I desperately need to get my hands on the second book. The ending has left me with so many questions that I just cannot wait!
