COFFEE AND CONVERSATION #1: Or Why Do I Never Have Any Motivation On Saturdays?

I’m sitting here in my living room, wrapped up in a blanket, drinking my third cup of coffee of the morning and listening to Adele while my kids are playing in there rooms.  It’s relatively calm at the moment and I’m enjoying the easiness of a Saturday morning. As you’re reading this, you my lovely readers, are probably asking yourself what this post even is.  It’s not really an article, and its definitely not promo, and I’m not reviewing a book, so what’s the goal here?  I’ve been wanting to start sharing a little dose of my everyday life with everyone for a while.  Just a small snippet of what I’m doing for the day, how my monthly reading is going, and maybe anything that is happening with the kids and the house.  I figured the perfect time to do this is in the morning when I’m relaxing with my cup of coffee, hence “Coffee and Conversations” was born!

October was a pretty busy month for us.  We had several birthdays, the end of football and cheerleading season, plus all the Halloween festivities!  I’m happy November is finally here and hopefully there will be a bit of a slow down before the holidays.  But with the coming of November, it really means that I should be doing some fall cleaning.  Hence the title of this post about not having any motivation come Saturday.  Throughout the week I always think of all these great things I want to do over the weekend.  This weekend’s plans were to clean the basement.  It’s already 11 am and I’ve yet to move from the chair.  So guaranteed that isn’t happening.  I still need to clean the house for a birthday party tomorrow anyways, so who needs a clean family room/playroom in the basement anyways?

You know what I really want to do today?  One, continue to work and clean up the blog.  We’ve been working on some changes with the set up and the graphics as you’ve probably noticed, and there’s a lot of behind the scenes stuff that still needs done.  It’s relaxing to me but definitely time consuming.  And two, I really want to be reading.  I have a huge TBR this month, and I’m itching to dive in.  I actually finished Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum on Thursday and adored it.  Look for a review on that one sometime this week.  It was just the perfect YA contemporary.  Sticking to that genre, I decided to start On the Fence by Kasie West and I’m a little over half way through it.  It’s adorable but my time in the reading department has been few and far between lately!

However, I guess I should just get up and start moving.  I have several loads of laundry to get going and then to fold, plus its the weekend to wash and change the sheets which I dread.  Four beds is a lot of sheets to wash and remake.  665D4F4A-9679-4CE9-93D3-0B73EDB6734DPlus its like attack of the stuffed animals in the kids rooms.  It all gets to be really ridiculous.  The only plus to this whole thing is that a few weekends ago, when I was motivated, I did completely redo my laundry room.  It was the only room in the house that was never really finished when we moved into our house.  We’ve lived here almost 12 years now, and it’s stayed the same graders build white with nothing to make it feel cozy.  I finally couldn’t take it anymore and went to Home Depot one night and just got the paint and started working on it.  And if I do say so myself I’m pretty entertained by the final product.  It’s this pretty mint color with gray accents and I actually enjoy doing my laundry now.  Gasp, I know.  Someone who enjoys laundry?!?  What can I say.  I thrive off of decent decorating and the fresh scent of lavender detergent.

On that note, my coffee cup is shockingly empty, so I’m going to head over and fill it back up and start to get some more stuff done.  Wish me luck on this whole cleaning endeavor and I’ll let you know how it all goes next time we chat.

What are you doing this weekend?  Reading anything exciting?  Let me know in the comments!
