BLOG TOUR: Cruel Money (Cruel Trilogy #1) by K.A. Linde

Lose yourself to the dark and glamorous underbelly of the Upper East Side in USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde’s new billionaire romance Cruel Trilogy.

She was supposed to be a one night stand.

A way to sate my sexual appetite.

I let her glimpse the man I am. The face that I hide behind my carefully cultivated life.

But she ripped open that divide–and there’s no going back.

Now, she’s here. In my city.

I don’t care that I’m Manhattan royalty and she’s the help.

Only that she’s living in my summer home. With me.

And I want more.

Review

K.A. Linde is a hit or miss author for me.  Some of her books I’ve absolutely adored, and others have only been so so.  It seems to depend on the characters and the storyline, and how well I connect to the happenings within the book.  The last contemporary series I read by Linde was the Wright Family books, and for the most part, I enjoyed them all.  One of the side characters introduced in those books was Penn Kensington, the heir apparent to the mayor of New York, and one of my favorite supporting characters.  There was something about Penn that really intrigued me, and I wanted to know more about his story.  Imagine how excited I was when I started Cruel Money and realized that it was about none other than Penn!

Cruel Money is the first in a trilogy, and introduces us to Natalie, a house sitter and author, who spent one amazing night in Paris with Penn Kensington before he completely ghosted on her.  Now it’s six years later, and Natalie is not the same girl she used to be.  But then again, Penn isn’t the same man he used to be either.  Try as these two might to avoid one another, and the feelings they both have, they end up coming together in one combustible night.  However, outside sources quickly rip these two apart again, like a train wreck you didn’t see coming.

This book was so, so good.  One, I loved the fact that Penn had a group of friends like were like something straight out of Gossip Girl.  There was so much backstabbing and bitterness among his crew, it was almost impossible to see through the lies to find the true people under the Upper East Side masks.  It was a world that Penn had grown up in, but not really one he was still comfortable with.  Natalie on the other hand, gets sucked into the group on a whim, and there is so much bitterness and angst that awaits her on the other side.  My heart broke for her, while at the same time cheered her own.  I really wanted to see her and Penn work through the difficulties that lie before them.

Like many K.A. Linde books, this one ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, and I’m crying as I wait for book 2.  Going into this one, I had no idea that it wasn’t a standalone, and I’m kicking myself for getting invested in a trilogy when only the first book has been published!

Also, I need a book for Lewis, please and thank you!

5 Stars!!  One of K.A. Linde’s best books to date!
