Chemistry is my love language.
I’ve always been able to separate feelings from chemosignals. A shot of dopamine, a dash of serotonin, and a sprinkle of oxytocin—and bam. You’re in love.
And when egg meets sperm, you’re pregnant.
I couldn’t even be surprised as I stared down at the little blue plus sign, because I knew exactly when and how, and with whom it happened.
When: approximately five weeks ago.
Who: one night stand.
How: prophylactic malfunction.
The upside? I don’t have to go looking for a suitable mate.
Genetically, he’s the cream of the crop. His musculature is a study in symmetry and strength, his height imposing and dominant. He is a man who thrives on control and command, a man who survives on intelligence and resourcefulness. A perfect male specimen.
And the whole package is wrapped up in a flawlessly tailored suit.
I’m having this baby, and he insists we’re well-suited to have it together. And what’s worse? He wants more, in the way of love and marriage.
But love isn’t real. It’s just a product of chemistry.
And if he changes my mind about that, we’re both in trouble.
Staci Hart has quickly ridden to my auto-buy authors list! I have loved every single book that I have read by her, and she is one of the kindest, most genuine authors that I have ever met.
I have followed Katherine through the past three books and knew her book was going to be something special. With her analytical mind, her mouth blabbing out random facts, and the rules that run her world, she needed a patient man to come along who understood all of her idiosyncrasies, which is where Theo comes in. These two were so effortless together and were the perfect balance. They definitely had their challenges in what they each needed in a relationship, but they eventually pulled their heads out of their asses.
Katherine was raised by free love hippies who went where the wind blew them and made her crave rules, structure, and boundaries. Theo’s dad walked out on his mother and twin at an early age and only ever wanted to be the husband and father he never had. With one on the side of love isn’t real and one on the side of love is everything…how could they possibly get their HEA?!?
I loved Katherine’s “no apologies” attitude where she did what made sense to her. She hated curveballs and the fluidity of life, but, when she winds up pregnant, the hardest lesson she is going to have to learn is flexibility. I think Theo was my favorite in this book because he is such a giving, caring man who is the ultimate protector. All he wants to do is protect and provide for those he cares about. Theo understood Katherine in ways that Katherine didn’t even understand herself, which goes to show the amount of care he put into paying attention to Katherine’s needs.
I loved how their story was told because it was brilliantly written. This was a journey of growth and putting the other’s needs first. I loved getting to catch up with the other couples from the previous books as well!
Overall Rating: 5/5 Stars!
