DAVIS—Honest Abe to his friends—IS IN OVER HIS HEAD…
I binge listened to this series last fall on audiobook and they were so good! I was so happy that she decided to keep writing this series, especially with this couple. I am usually not one for mistaken identity because it drives me up the wall, but the way that Sara Ney wrote this one made everything better.
This book was hilarious and a little cheesy, but I loved it all the same. Abe is just an adorable human with flaws just like everyone else that made me want to kick him in the ass. Skylar is funny and cute. I loved this couple because they gave me Rhett and Kip vibes where they were a little more on the quiet side and they only had a few douchey moments. Abe and Skylar were the perfect balance to each other.
I thought Sara did a great job writing this story and giving us some fantastic characters. I died when I got a cameo of one of my fave douchebags from a previous book. I really live for canoe appearances!
Overall Rating: 4/5 Stars!
The Lying Hours tells the story of Abraham and Skylar. Abraham is the grandpa of the wrestling team, always putting himself out there to help others, being the good guy, Mr. Dependable, and honestly he’s a little tired of it. Skylar is the cute, girl next door who is just fed up with life. She leads a mediocre existence, and all she really wants is a nice guy to come and sweep her off her feet. And she thinks she found that when she stumbles across JB on the LoveU app. Their chemistry and conversation is off the charts, and she’s so excited to meet him, but when they do inevitably meet, it’s the worst date known to man…maybe because she’s really been talking to Abe, hiding behind JB’s screenname.
In true Sara Ney fashion, she brings our hero and heroine together in the funniest, sweetest, and most adorable ways. I absolutely loved Abe in this book, and couldn’t get over how adorable and sincere he was. I’m so glad that the biggest douchebag in this book was his roommate Jake. But I have a feeling that we will see him back, and just maybe someone will wring the douchebag right out of him! This book was a solid edition to the series, and kept me well invested in the pages. I found myself sneaking in a little bit of reading time whenever I could, including in between my son’s at bats at his multiple little league games this week!
If you haven’t read this series yet, absolutely give it a whirl. The first book, The Studying Hours was a little rocky for me, but the books continuously get better. I promise you will not be disappointed!
