Ava Diaz needs saving.
She just doesn’t know it yet.
Just like she doesn’t know a thing about the boy she sits next to on the first day of senior year.
He thinks she’s a brat.
She thinks he’s entitled.
Maybe first impressions don’t always last…
Because Connor Ledger’s about to save her.
He just doesn’t know why.
It’s been too long since I’ve been able to dive into one of Jay McLean’s books, and I was absolutely thrilled when she announced that she was releasing a new duet, and it was mature YA, along the same lines as the More Than series. I might have done a happy dance around my bedroom, not going to lie.
Ava has been living her life as a shell of a human. An accident has left her family crippled, and she’s trying to juggle her home life and her school life without falling apart. When Connor Ledger, the new kid in school, tries to talk to her, her first instinct is to be defensive, but once tempers cool, the two realize that maybe they’re better together than apart.
Let me just say, this book is an absolute rollercoaster of emotions in the most special and epic way possible. Ava and Connor’s story is full of angst, injustice, and heartache. There’s so much I want to say about these two, but so much I don’t want to tell you, because I truly think it’s best if you discover these two on your own. If you’ve read any of Jay’s other books, you know the type of emotions that she infuses in her characters and these two are no exception.
I cannot wait for the second part of Ava and Connor’s story, and to see how Jay gives these two their HEA.
