A new standalone novel in the Brooklyn Bruisers world!
Sometimes lady luck shakes your hand, and sometimes she smacks your face. Sometimes she does both on the same day.

Three years ago I met the most amazing girl in the world. We were both down on our luck. Then I got that call—the one that tells you to get your buns on a plane to go meet your destiny.
But the girl was left behind. I didn’t have her phone number, and she didn’t know my real name.
While I became a professional hockey player, she became a superstar, with platinum records and legions of fans. And a slick, music producer boyfriend who treated her badly.
But fate wasn’t done with us yet. When Delilah turns up at a hockey game, I can’t resist making contact. The internet swoons when I ask her out on a date.
She might not remember me. But her jerkface ex does. He’ll do anything to keep us apart.
Good thing athletes never give up. This time I’m playing for keeps.

I am a huge Sarina Bowen fan, especially when it comes to her hockey books. Surprisingly, this is the first book that I have read from this series so now I have to go back and read the others. I did not at all feel like I was missing out on the story though.

I thought this was an adorable second chance romance (kinda) that was a big case of wrong timing. Delilah and Silas met at a time when they were both grappling with trying to make Plan A in their lives work. They felt this deep connection, but they didn’t feel like they could pursue it at the time. They had a few weeks of hanging out at a bar before circumstances caused them to lose touch. Then, they come back together via some adorable tweets, and realize that connection never went away. However, now that their Plan A’s have come to fruition, their lives got even more complicated. They will have to work out if what they have is worth making some changes.

Silas was my favorite in this one. He was a genuinely nice, kind guy with a sexy as hell body to go with his handsome face. He was the more optimistic one of the two of them, and wanted so badly for things to work out with Delilah from the very beginning. All he wanted was to play hockey and be around Delilah. He made her feel special and wanted to do little things for her no matter what it cost him.

I adored Delilah. She has had some things happen to her in the past (ahem douchebag ex-boyfriend) that have caused her to take on a cynical look at life. Her trust has been stomped on and trampled over too many times, but something about Silas causes her to let him in. Delilah is so down to earth and low key. She just wants to write music and cuddle with her man that she has gotten attached to.

I can’t wait to read more from this series because this friend group is awesome!
