I know two things when I meet my new boss, Greyson Parker Montgomery III.
One, he’s an egomaniac.
And two, we’re going to get naked.
Something I didn’t know? That I’d end up pregnant.
No one is more surprised by our off-the-charts chemistry than me. I’m a free spirit with a passion for design and a taste for the bohemian. Greyson is a cocky venture capitalist who’s as pretentious as his sharply cut power suits.
He owns half of Charleston, and has the other half at his beck and call. But the only place he owns me is in bed…or in the backseat of his car, boneless and begging for mercy.
We argue over contracts and costs all day long. Behind closed doors, however, we engage in a different kind of business. The kind that has me surrendering to his unique brand of dominance.
Our no-strings attached arrangement suits me just fine. Until I wake up one morning with what I think is a wicked hangover.
Only it’s not a hangover.
I thought Greyson was a typical “greed is good” grump. But when he demands to be involved in the life we accidentally created, I start to see a different side of him. One that’s more gentleman than jerk.
Am I crazy to think we could be a family together? Or is making me fall for him just another one of his power plays?
A stand-alone, contemporary romance.
This was my first Jessica Peterson book! Yes, yes, I know it is the third book in the series, but surprise baby trope made me not care as much as I would…haha! I was still able to read this story fully without feeling like I was missing something, which was a plus. I did meet the previous couples, but it just made me excited to read their books!
I thought Jessica Peterson did a fantastic job writing this book. I will definitely continue reading her books. I really loved how she created this no bullshit heroine who is honest to a fault. I also loved how she wrote a mini story within a story. I have never seen that done, but it was so cool.
Julia was a fantastic character. She is a literature professor who teaches a course on romance in books, which I thought was brilliant. She promotes positive romance and talking through books to really understand what’s going on throughout the story. I loved how Jessica threw in favorite romance authors like Kennedy Ryan and Tessa Bailey. It was really fun to get those little tidbits. I enjoyed Julia’s honest to a fault personality, and her belief that everything will eventually be okay, even if things are hard at the moment. She is strong and independent, and definitely not afraid to stand her ground when to comes to things that she’s passionate about.
Greyson was another amazing character who has only ever wanted to provide for his family. However, he is punishing himself thinking that he will earn everyone’s love by working 80-90 hour weeks. Julia makes him see that there are more ways to show up and be a equal partner in the relationship besides financially. Greyson is intense and sweet, and his southern accent is to die for. I loved the way that he loves his family because it is the way everyone wants to be loved.
Greyson and Julia were perfect together. Their chemistry was off the charts from day one that they met. Once Greyson finally let his walls down, there was no holds barred between these two. They definitely had their hiccups and arguments, but they strove to be better for each other. Their development over the story was beautiful to see.
I absolutely adored Greyson’s family as a whole too. They were the best kind of southern family, and I can’t wait for Ford’s book!
