I knew the rules.
Never reveal my true identity.
Play the game, give the illusion.
Don’t get close to the clients.
The dark and glamorous lifestyle of the rich and shameless open my eyes to a lavish world of sin and wealth, and a man I can’t have.
A man I desperately want—James Riviera.
We’re treading a fine line as we live the ultimate double life until we make a startling discovery that tests both our loyalties.
I only had to follow the rules, but rules are meant to be broken.
Lucia has been recommended to me numerous times over the years, and I’ve never picked up one of her books. However, when I saw that she was writing a new standalone, age gap romance I just knew that I had to give her writing a try. And I am so incredibly glad that I did because this book was absolutely amazing. I can’t tell you how much I loved Hush Hush!
Aubrey and Natalie are college students in New York. Aubrey struggles for every cent that she has, while Natalie has always lived a privileged life. Yet, somehow, the two manage to be best friends. Aubrey’s money struggles cause her to work two jobs, folding laundry at the laundrymat and being a nanny for a few bratty kids. She’s a bit desperate for a change, and when Natalie gives her the option of making more money than she knows what to do with, she has to decide if she wants to continue to struggle or sell her soul to the devil…
Aubrey ends up taking a job at Sanctuary Cove, where she meets the silver haired fox, James Riveria. And this folks, is where this book really takes off and I was completely wrapped up in the story. Once the book got moving, I couldn’t put it down for anything.
My biggest piece of advice on this one is to go into it blind, and be prepared for the unbelievable….and get yourself a fan and some ice water, because this one is HOTTTTTT!!!

I am absolutely speechless! I became a huge fan of Lucia last year when I read Balance and Execution back to back. I fell in love with the forbidden desires that she writes about and the boundaries that she makes me extend. I knew as soon as I heard that she was writing an age gap, forbidden romance involving a silver fox that I was going to fall even more in love with Lucia.
Lucia definitely took her time building up this story that kept increasing in intensity before dropping a massive bomb on us that left me shocked. I usually get bored when authors take too much time to get to the juicy bits of the story, but Lucia laid a foundation that was essential for understanding Aubrey before adding the silver fox into the mix. The bomb was actually perfect and added so much forbiddeness to this story that I was giddy with excitement. After the bomb was dropped, there was so much drama and secrets and stomach knotting tension that left me breathless.
Aubrey might be one of my favorite characters that Lucia has ever written. She owns who she is and gives no fucks if someone disagrees with it. She speaks her mind and walks with an intention of bringing men to their knees. She is fierce, loyal, and unafraid of exploring her sexuality.
And in walks James Riviera into a story that I was already in love with. He walked in with a strong, solid presence that everyone takes notice of. He lives by moments in life and documenting them on his skin in ways that he will always remember, which I really liked. All James wants in his life is someone to share intimacy with and someone he can take care of, and he finds these needs being met with Aubrey. However, there are so many obstacles between them that it will be a miracle if they get through it.
I could read about this couple and these characters forever!
