The ice planet has given me a second lease on life, so I’m thrilled to be here. Sure, there’s no cheeseburgers, but I’m healthy and ready to be a productive member of the small tribe.

What I didn’t anticipate? That there’d be a savage stranger waiting nearby, watching me. And when he takes me captive, the unthinkable happens… I resonate to him.

Resonance means mating, and children… but I don’t know if this guy’s ever been around anyone before. He’s truly a barbarian in all ways, right down to clubbing me over the head and claiming me as his own.

So why is it that I crave his touch and hunger for more?

I started reading the Ice Planet Barbarian series last year, and really enjoyed it, but was distracted after the first few books, and didn’t get a chance to get back to it. In July though, I discovered the magic of audiobooks, and got back on the Ice Planet train. And it’s been fantastic!

Barbarian Mine is the story of Harlow and Ruhk. Ruhk kidnaps Harlow after hitting her over the head in a panic. Unsure of the humans who have come to Not Hoth, Ruhk is initially hesitant of Harlow. He certainly doesn’t expect to resonate to his captive.

Ruhk has lived alone in a cave since his father died. He’s not spoken to anyone or cared for anyone other than himself for a very long time. He’s spent his life naked (not that I’m complaining), hunting and taking care of himself and creating a life, while lonely, for himself. Watching him with Harlow, as he discovered new feelings and learned to love again was so incredibly sweet and just made my heart pitter patter the entire time I was reading.

The main theme of the novel is the relationship of Harlow and Ruhk and how they’ve created a life away from the tribe. However, when Harlow becomes pregnant and it begins to wear on her body, and she weakens and gets sicker and sicker, Ruhk has no choice but to go to the tribe and “civilization” to keep Harlow safe. His love for Harlow and the sacrifices he makes for her made me all swoony and he’s definitely my favorite of the big blue aliens!

Rating: 4 Stars!
