So you may ask, who is Adam Connor? He is the recently divorced, Academy Award-winning actor who just moved in next door with his kid. He also happens to be an exquisite male specimen and the most infuriating sly bastard I’ve ever come across.

Let’s be honest here, wouldn’t you wanna take a peek over the wall to catch a glimpse of him, hopefully when he is naked? Wouldn’t you melt away after watching him work out as his five-year-old kid cheered him on? Do I even have to mention those abs, the big bulge in his pants, or that arm porn? Oh, wait, you would never spy on him? Sure…

While I was being thoughtful by not breaking and entering and was actually considering going over to offer him a shoulder—or maybe a boob or two—to cry on (y’know, because of his divorce), instead he had me thrown in jail after a small incident. Jail, people! He was supposed to grant me countless orgasms as a thank you, not a jail cell.

After that day, I was mentally plotting ways to strangle him instead of jumping his bones to make sweet love. So what if my body did more than just shiver when he whispered dirty little things in my ear? I can’t be held responsible for that. And when was the last time he’d kissed anyone anyway? Who’d enjoy a kiss with a side of heart attack?

Even if he and his son were the best things since sliced bread—and I’m not saying he was—I couldn’t fall for him. No matter what promises he whispered on my skin, my curse wouldn’t let us be. I wasn’t a damsel in distress—I could save myself, thank you very much—but deep inside, I still hoped Adam Connor would be the hero of my story.

If you need a good laugh, look no further than To Hate Adam Connor. This book had me giggling uncontrollably the entire time I was listening and Lucy, our heroine is completely over the top and I was living for it.

To Hate Adam Connor is a single dad Hollywood romance, and it was perfectly done. Lucy’s life is falling apart at the seams. She’s convinced her family has had a love curse placed upon them, and she’s completely given up on the idea of ever finding “the one.” She finds herself moving into her best friend Olive’s spare bedroom. Olive is married to Hollywood royalty and their neighbor is none other than the recently divorced Adam Connor, who is hot as sin, and definitely not bad to look at. Lucy finds herself peeking at him over the wall that separates the two houses and it becomes her favorite past time. When an unlikely event causes her to scale the wall and end up in Adam’s backyard, he immediately has her arrested as a stalker. It doesn’t help either that she has several pictures of him shirtless on her phone!

After the arrest, Lucy decides that she hates Adam Connor, but his son Aiden has other plans and falls head over heels in love with Lucy and asks if she can be his new nanny. Honestly, Lucy’s relationship with Aiden was probably one of my favorite things about this book. I’m a sucker for a good single dad romance, especially when it comes with an adorable, spunky little kid. And Aiden was the cutest little thing, and I just couldn’t get enough of him.

To Hate Adam Connor was the first book I’ve read/listened to by Ella Maise and it definitely won’t be the last. Her writing was really well done and the humor in the book was completely on point, without being overdone and making the story feel “fake” or bogged down. I enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters and found the supporting characters to add just the right touch of sass to the story. After finishing To Hate Adam Connor, I found out that Ella also wrote a book about Olive and Jason so that’s definitely moved up on my TBR.

The best thing about the Audible Escape package is finding gems like this one when I’m digging around for something new to read. If you haven’t tried it yet, and you enjoy listening to romance audiobooks, it’s definitely worth looking into!

About the Author

Ella Maise is a Washington Post and International Bestselling Author.

Writing became my world and I can’t imagine myself doing anything other than creating new characters and telling their stories. You know how some things simply makes your heart burst with happiness? A really good book, a puppy, hugging someone you’ve been missing like crazy? That’s what writing does to me. And all the hard work, all the sleepless nights, all the anxiety that comes with publishing…everything is worth it at the end.
