From USA Today bestselling author Melanie Harlow and David Romanov, comes an all new sexy and emotional MM standalone romance.
I wasn’t looking for Derek Wolfe.
I wasn’t looking for anybody. All I wanted was to start a new life in America. But when I found myself stranded here with no place to go, he came to my rescue, offering me a place to stay.
He’s smart, successful, and sexy as hell—I can barely sleep knowing he’s right down the hall. And when the chemistry between us explodes one night with fierce, fiery passion, it’s hard to deny there’s something real there.
But he does.
He says he was drunk. He says it was a one-time thing. He says he’s not into guys and what we did meant nothing.
He’s lying. Because it happened again, and again, and again. And it’s better every time.
I know we could be good together, and I want the chance to try, but I’m done hiding. If he’s not strong enough to admit the truth, I’ll have to be strong enough to walk away.
I am a huge Melanie Harlow fan and I knew I would need to read her M/M book because I do love a good M/M romance. When I met Melanie at Book Bonanza 2019, she told me how she came about writing this book. It was a story based on one of her cover models, which got me really excited to read this book!
Maxim moves to California from Russia in order to follow his dreams of being a screenwriter. However, as he is sitting in a local bar after having just landed in the US, his bag is stolen with all of his belongings. Derek has always done exactly what he is supposed to do and takes care of everyone else because he has one of the biggest hearts. When his sister calls him telling him one of her bar patrons was robbed and has no where to go, she begs him to let her patron crash in his house. The moment these two meet is like two worlds colliding!
Maxim has always had to hide who he is, but he refuses to do that in a country where his sexual orientation is more greatly accepted. So when he starts to have feelings for a man who swears he is straight despite his mixed signals, he won’t get put back in the closet again. Derek can never seem to make a connection with his past girlfriends despite his desire to have a family. Lines start to get blurry when old fantasies start creeping back up when he stares at his new, beautiful roommate. Derek will have to decide if Maxim is worth risking everything for in order to achieve his own happiness.
Maxim and Derek were a beautiful story to read about, and it is extra special because it was based on a real couple. It is amazing the love stories that are out there!
