Staying overnight in a luxury hotel, Assistant U.S. Attorney Cameron Lynde overhears a high-profile murder involving a U.S. senator. Special Agent Jack Pallas is assigned to the investigation—the same Jack Pallas who still blames her for nearly ruining his career three years ago. Now the pair will have to put their rocky past behind them, focus on the case at hand—and smother the flame of their sizzling-hot sexual tension.

This was my first Julie James book and I absolutely loved it! Romantic suspense books are some of my favorites and I am adding this series to that list.

Lynde and Jack left things on a bad note three years ago and Jack finds himself face to face with the woman who nearly ended his career after she witnesses a murder. The sparks and sexual tension in this book were unreal! Jack and Lynde are like oil and water with the amount of banter they toss back and forth. As soon as Jack figures out there is more than meets the eye in regards to the events three years ago, and as soon as Lynde lets her guard back down around a man who hurt her, things definitely get interesting.

Both of these characters were strong personalities and became a dominant force to be reckoned with when they finally put their past behind them and worked as a team. I thought Julie did a great job building this story and tying everything together. The suspense kept me turning pages to figure out how everything was going to end. I loved the side characters as well!

I can’t wait to read book two!
